Stuart Bolin attempts to capture a snapshot of a moment in time. Combined elements of pose, movement and scale are used to convey energy through static objects and transform the viewing experience into something slightly skewed. The use of classic tools and methods, mixed media, ready-made and found objects juxtapose the old with new through various modes of representation giving a heightened sense of surrealism to the work.
Through a theatrical and distorted visual experience, an attempt to give the viewer a sense of anticipation is played out through a narrative described by the works composition. Stuart develops ideas around representation primarily using the volume of the exhibition space to achieve a heightened sense of movement and scale.
